Human Resources Business Process Outsourcing
According to some analysts human resources business process outsourcing is something that did exist ever since the seventies. It is believed that this is when a company first outsourced a business process that was directly linked with benefits or payroll. Although such a practice did catch on and it was used by some companies, only around the year 1999 we can say that this really became a worldwide phenomenon. That was the time when companies actually started to outsource more than 5 major human resources process to outsourcers, all at the same time. We are basically talking about one company that allows the outsourcer to control all or a part of HR functions. This includes performance, rewards, measurements, welfare, health, benefits, technology, retirement, payroll administration and so on.
Human resources business process outsourcing is used in order to create a service arena that is better. We can say that this practice is currently having a huge impact on the way human resources services are delivered and how companies need to handle it. The main advantage that can be mentioned stands in the fact that a company that uses it is able to get rid of all operations that do not generate income and are important, repetitive and transactional at the same time. HR outsourcers are offering companies a way to easily take care of training, sourcing, hiring, developing human capital and rewarding employees.
If we look at some stats we will see that around 10% of all Fortune 500 companies include human resources business process outsourcing to some extent. Also, a lot of small to medium sized companies are also outsourcing some human resources functions in order to gain time to dedicate to core company activities. This market is really growing at a very fast pace and there is no sign that it will slow down in the future due to the advantages it brings. As you can imagine there are also disadvantages but they can easily be managed with the correct HR outsourcing strategy, which is easy to build.
For most small to medium sized companies out there human resources business process outsourcing is becoming a need. We are going through tough economical times and cutting as much costs as possible is always a good idea. Through such a practice you will cut costs and gain profit. There is no real reason why you should not do it unless you can handle all human resources services with an in house staff that is properly qualified and cheaper than the outsourced possibility.
