Small Business HR Outsourcing

Although HR outsourcing is a process that can generate us a lot of money, there are some debates that are currently going on and are having an impact on the way people see outsourcing of human resources. One of them stands in small business HR outsourcing as there is a common belief that small companies do not need to outsource any HR function. The entire topic is quite difficult to tackle as there are a lot of differences between small companies and the way in which they operate.

When talking about a small business that is really small (1-5 employees) there is a very strong chance that HR outsourcing is really not needed. This is because all the paperwork needed can be handled with ease by one person, usually an accountant or even the owner of the company. As the number of employees grows the need human resources handled properly also grows. If we make a mistake with a few employees we will be forgiven for sure as we have a much closer working environment. On the other hand, if we make too much mistakes we might end up with no working environment.

The truth is that small business HR outsourcing is rarely needed. In most situations when a company decides to do some outsourcing of human resources they are actually outsourcing only 1 or 2 functions. For instance, most small companies are only outsourcing tax management and tax filing. This is because this is the one action that takes up the most time. While we can afford to pay a company to do everything for us we might gain a bigger profit by the fact that this allows us to properly focus on our in-house business.

One thing that most small companies fail to understand is the fact that at some point in time they might grow. If you do not constantly learn how to manage more employees and more human resources you will be faced with an impossibility of dealing with anything related to such a department. You basically have 2 main options. You can either constantly learn and grow an in-house HR department or you can leave it aside and when the time is right and you can not manage it anymore use human resources outsourcing. The second option is the one that will gain you the quickest growth rate possible although the first one is the one that offers you more in-house security. At the end of the day you have to choose what is best for your small company.
